    The Giro’s starting this morning from a little island north of Sardinia, Caprera. There’s a Navy base between Caprera and Sardinia, LaMaddelena, where the Navy’s been overhauling subs since the end of WWII. Absolutely great place. Spent a couple of weeks

  1. I’m pretty sure my pop was stationed there back in the late 50’s. He had a hopped up Vespa he wishes he never sold…….

  2. i’ve done a couple nato exercises on sardinia. all i remember was how hot and mountainous it was one year and how muddy and mountainous it was the next year.

    i kid. the island is BEAUTIFUL and one of my best memories of overseas deployment.
